Epiphone Limited Edition Les Paul Custom PRO Electric Guitar Silver Burst. This guitar got very positive reviews and I have a Gibson LP Studio in Silverburst so I thought Id give the Epi a try to see the differences.Night and day on this one buy the Gibson.Someone in Epiphones quality control department is sleeping. The finish is very good and there dont seem to be any nicks or dings like others have mentioned. However, Ive got fret buzz all over the place and the neck isnt straight.Im guessing someone adjusted the truss rod in an attempt to get rid of the buzz.FAIL. In addtion I get a little noise from the strings and Im guessing its because of the massivly deep slots in the nut.No reason for them to be THIS deep.To top it off the knobs sit very high up on the pots. They all sit pretty high off the guitar you can easily see the nut and threads on the pots. But on in particluar looks like it is on the very tip of the pot.It looks like you have it pulled up for the coil splitting when you actually dont.Epic fail on quality control here.I recently purchased an Epi LP Special for a fraction of the cost of this one, but the Specials neck feels great to play. This one does not.The pick ups on this guitar are ok, but no where close to the Gibson.Ill take this one to a luthier to get the issues resolved and a new nut likely new pickups too and Im sure it will be great. But for this kind of money, my first upgrade shouldnt be spending a decent amount of cash to get factory problems corrected.Roll the dice. I have purchased some really great guitars from Epiphone in the last few years, but it seems like a crapshoot as far as a good one or a bad one.
